Bearing the American title, Dead Men Tell No Tales, a new trailer for the latest installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has come our, and all signs are pointing to On Stranger Tides being a blip on the radar and the series getting back to its weird and wonderful roots. While the plot may revolve around ghost pirate Salazar (Javier Bardem) searching for the swashbuckling Captain Jack Sparrow, Johnny Depp’s most famous creation, and the one we’re not fully sick of (yet), does seem to be back to the role he played in the first trilogy, as supporting player and come relief to Carina (Kaya Scodelario) and Henry (Brenton Twaites), the series’ new Will and Elizabeth. What’s more we get two Depp’s for the price of one, with a look at you Captain jack, dragged by the magic of CGI.
On top of all that, there is also a return to the overt supernatural element that made the first few movies so much fun (even if the sequels lost a little what made the first one so great). I mean, how can you not love a ghost shark? Add in the already wonderful main theme getting an epic makeover, and this could be one series that could be getting back on track.
Released: 26th May
Synopsis: Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all-new “Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge.” The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil's Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea—notably Jack. Jack's only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifully small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has ever faced.
